The Association for Retail Environments’ Executive Director, Klein Merriman, has announced his plans to retire in 2013. A.R.E. President Alan Harvill has appointed a search committee that will include Merriman, as well as A.R.E. board members and past presidents, to identify a successor. Vetted Solutions, an executive search firm that specializes in trade associations, has been retained to aid in the search.
Merriman has served as executive director of A.R.E. (formerly NASFM, the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers) since 1995. During Merriman’s 18-year tenure the association expanded dramatically, broadened its scope of members, and the number and types of member services the association offers. Merriman credits much of the association’s growth to its volunteer leaders. “We’ve been fortunate to have a succession of outstanding volunteer leaders that have helped the association successfully navigate through a series of fundamental changes in our industry,” Merriman says.
