Educators, get set for an influx of students interested in a career in visual merchandising. The new TV show Window Warriors, which premiered Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on GSN, will undoubtedly get creative youths interested in the field. Professionals will be gratified by the appreciation the show brings to the field.
The show pits visual merchandisers against each other in a window-display competition a la Project Runway. It affords a behind-the-glass look at the creative process involved as well as criteria that are important to retailers and brands. In addition to larger goals such as visual impact, brand appropriateness, and product promotion, judges scrutinize details from construction quality to punctuation.
Contestants build displays to meet a specific challenge each episode, using materials and equipment from sponsors including several Shop! members. Viewers are drawn into contestants’ visions and struggles, which culminate in a windows reveal for judges and home viewers. Each episode features a winner and the elimination of one contestant. The six episodes will build to a grand-prize winner of $100,000.
Hosted by Garcelle Beauvais and featuring judges Carson Kressley, Tai Beauchamp and Douglas Little, the show includes retail partners Macy’s, Anthropologie, Hot Topic, Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics and Sprinkles.
