Nora Lighting’s track fixtures are adding sparkle and shine to showroom vignettes at Art Van Furniture’s newest locations. The Roundback Cylinder track fixtures (NTH-106) offer powerful line voltage PAR30 track heads that feature a clean, architectural appearance and offer directed illumination. Halogen lamps produce 75W, adding sparkle and shine to polished woods, glass table tops, lamps, mirrors, and other decorative pieces. The fixtures also assist with navigation and security throughout the stores.
The versatile luminaire has exceptional reliability and is used throughout each location to highlight both vignettes and specialty displays, such as on-site coffee shops. Another advantage is its light weight, which is ideal for long track runs in a one- or two-circuit line voltage system, says Michael Thompson, corporate architect at Art Van.
“A one-circuit system can handle up to 2400 watts; a two-circuit system handles up to 4800 watts — more than 60 fixtures on a single run — which works well in our larger showroom spaces,” Thompson says. “The heavy-gauge Nora tracks are designed to accommodate these multi-fixture runs.”
Nora’s Roundback Cylinder also has a lot of punch for its modest size and works particularly well with troffers in showroom displays, adds EJ Phillips, national sales manager-showroom division at Nora Lighting.
“Troffers light up an entire space while the cylinders are focused on presentation areas for furnishings,” Phillips says. “Since the PAR30 lamp is encased in the fixture there is no side or back light as a distraction.”
Additionally, a phenolic heat-rated plastic baffle allows the fixture to perform around the clock without overheating and the medium-based socket accepts both halogen or LED lamps for energy savings, Phillips says.
At Art Van, “floating” tracks are typically mounted to the ceiling with cables, and hard stem mounts are used at the power sources to stabilize the system. The furniture retailer selected a white finish, but the fixture is also offered in black, natural metal and bronze. Constructed from die-cast aluminum, the NTH-106 is relatively small, 6 1/8-in. by 4 3/8-in. with a maximum extension of 9 ¼ in., which makes it easy to configure and to adjust the directional lighting for each site. Variable dimming allows the fixture to be toned down when it’s bright and sunny outside or it can be amped up in the evening for dramatic night-time effects, according to Nora Lighting.
