Shop!, the global trade association focused on retail environments and experiences, presented the prestigious Merriman Above & Beyond Award to 555 International. Presented during the annual Shop! Awards ceremony on March 29, this Award honors one Shop! member annually for providing exceptional service to its customers.
555 International was nominated by Erin Jones, SVP of Levy Restaurants, which provides retail services at Wrigley Field. With scant lead-time to leverage the Cubs’ World Series Championship, Levy turned to long-time vendor 555 to create a kiosk in the Woodfield Mall and a popup flagship on Michigan Avenue.
555 International President James Geier and director of Operations Jeffery Jones had a mere six days to complete the project. With no lead-time to purchase materials, they retrofitted existing materials that were then customized to the space. Dedicated to delivery, the 555 team even supervised other vendors to ensure flawless installation.
“The end result in both cases was so impressive, it’s impossible to perceive that the team was working under such significant constraints. They truly worked miracles,” Jones commented in the award nomination.
555 International is a Chicago-based global design, development, and fabrication firm, that has been a Shop! member for 25 years. Shop! member companies are eligible to be nominated for the Above & Beyond award by their retail customers.
“What a well-deserved honor for 555 International,” says Steven Weiss, Shop! CEO. “This award beautifully exemplifies the types of companies that are members of our association. We continually hear stories of how our members go above and beyond to not only provide the highest quality products and services, but also go the extra mile to meet job requirements and make a project shine for their customers.”
The Merriman Above & Beyond Award is named in honor of former executive director Klein Merriman, who led the association (formerly as A.R.E. and NASFM) and PAVE for 18 years, until his retirement in 2013.
Above & Beyond winners are published in the annual Retail Environments Winners Book. Copies are available online and to magazine subscribers in early April.
