Unique Store Fixtures helps create futuristic kitchen
Unique Store Fixtures continues to cook up award-winning projects, as proven by the highly acclaimed kitchen of the future at Wanted Design in May. Winning Best of Wanted Design by Surface magazine and a Metropolis Likes Trophy from Metropolis Magazine, “Future Kitchen” is a collaboration with Caesarstone and Pratt Institute industrial design students under the mentorship of Marc Thorpe. “Future Kitchen” was manufactured by Unique Store Fixtures under guidance of Allenby Concept House.
Using Caesarstone as a surfacing material connected to several food preparation stations, “Future Kitchen” takes into consideration smaller spaces and changes in food consumption in the year 2050. Unique Store Fixtures used Caesarstone and other ingredients such as hot rolled steel, stainless steel, and curved glass to produce the “Future Kitchen”–an experiment in how nature and technology work in unison to create a self-sustaining space that operates through aquaponics, hydroponics, 3D printing, water filtration, indoor farming, composting, and food storage.
“This project was a concoction of great design with just the right blend of building materials for a smart start-to-finish food preparation station,” states Ferro Corrente of Unique Store Fixtures. “We were proud to be a part of Caesarstone’s collaboration with Pratt Institute’s design students to ‘dish out’ the future-forward ‘Future Kitchen.’”
