Shop!, the trade association focused on enhancing retail environments and experiences, welcomes two new board members: Dan Evans, president and creative director at Goldsmith, and David Plante, director of Guest Center of Excellence at Target. Evans and Plante are filling vacated board positions.
Dan Evans joined Goldsmith mannequins in 2005 and directed the company’s acquisition to Blue Sage Capital in 2009 and assisted in the sale of the parent company to NOA Brands globally in 2013. Prior to Goldsmith, Evans was owner and President of Joint, a visual merchandising company in the U.S. and Canada, and held executive roles at Seven Continents, Toronto, MET Merchandising New York, and Design Industries of New York/Indianapolis. A long-time industry volunteer and mentor, he was president of NADI for more than 10 years, served on the original board of PAVE, and serves on advisory boards for several education institutions. Evans also has been a long-time member of additional industry associations including Shop! and Visual NY Group.
David Plante has been working at Target for more than 12 years. He currently leads the Consumer and Retail Insights group responsible for gathering, synthesizing, and sharing consumer and retail trends from around the globe, and influencing business strategies. For the past 20 years, he has worked for or on behalf of retail clients, providing direction on marketing, branding, trend analysis, and strategy.
“We are thrilled to have two experienced veterans, Dan Evans and David Plante, stepping into these roles,” says Steve Weiss, CEO of Shop!. “They will undoubtedly bring valuable insight, input, and guidance as we evolve our strategic plan and continue on our path to deliver relevant education, events, and thought leadership to a growing global audience. In addition, we thank our outgoing board members, Louis Dorado and Tony Mancini, for their time on the Shop! board and wish them well in their new endeavors.”
