Some sustainable building strategies seem like no-brainers. Project teams simply do the math, and consider the payback time. But BRE Global, the organization that created Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), wants retailers to think beyond those obvious quantifiable benefits.
“Traditionally, assessments of the benefits of sustainable buildings focus on the operational payback (e.g. utility savings) achieved on the additional investment required. These factors are important, but the potential benefits from sustainable construction are much broader,” states a new report from BRE Global and consulting firm Currie & Brown, Delivering Sustainable Buildings: Value of BREEAM to Retail in the UK.
The report looks at how BREEAM helps retailers attract customers, support effective operations, and manage costs and profitability. For more, see the latest issue of Retail Environments magazine.
