Which countries drink the most beer? Which ones spend the most? A new study from Statista, Alcoholic Drinks Report 2018 – Beer, reveals the answers.
When it comes to drinking beer, Eastern European countries dominate the list, with the top spot going to the Czechs. Statistics show in 2017 the average Czech drank 137.38 liters. Placing second is Poland, with 98.06. The U.S. makes it into 12th, with 74.90 liters.
As for spending, Australia is number one. In 2017, the average Australian spent $452.55 USD. Second is Ireland, with $347.59. Statista notes that these figures aren’t necessarily a reflection of consumption, but rather how expensive it can be to drink a pint in different countries. Australia is renowned for high prices, as is Norway. Both have high spending levels, but Australia is only in 13th place for consumption and Norway isn’t in the top 15 at all, according to the study.
