The recent staging of In-Store Asia 2018, among the largest trade fairs for the retail sector in India, was the most successful in its history. Held at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai, India, 150-plus exhibitors from six countries (50% of which were new exhibitors) showcased their products and services in POP display, shopper marketing, retail technology, signage and digital printing, retail design, visual merchandising and props, lighting, fixtures, materials, and equipment to approximately 7,600 professional visitors (a 50% increase over last year’s event) on 129,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. It also marked the highest foreign exhibitor participation (20%), especially from China, the U.S., Germany, Italy, and Taiwan.
Over the past 10 years, In-Store Asia has developed into a must-attend event for the top decision makers in the Indian retail scene. This 11th staging was the first time the event was included as part of the international EuroShop portfolio. EuroShop is the world’s leading international trade fair for the retail sector, organized by Messe Düsseldorf every three years in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In-Store Asia 2018 was accompanied by a two-day summit themed “Re-imagining the store” that was attended by over 240 senior professionals. Twenty national and international speakers shared their expertise in digital enabled retail environments, retail design, visual merchandising, design innovations, retail research, and shopper marketing.
The ancillary program also included the 10th presentation of the renowned VM&RD Retail Design Awards with a record 370 entries (a 30% increase). The top retail design, visual merchandising, and manufacturing talent from India competed in 12 store design categories and 10 special categories. Overall, 65 awards were given out.
Another highlight was the VM Challenge, the most important event in the Indian visual marketing scene. Forty-two visual merchandisers from more than 15 leading brands and companies competed in the one-hour live window display contest. An international jury awarded the winning teams.
The next In-Store Asia will be held from March 14-16, 2019, in New Delhi, India.
