MERGING HISTORY AND FASHION, THIS DESIGN TRANSFORMS THREE LANDMARKED 19TH CENTURY TOWNHOUSES INTO A FIVE-STORY BOUTIQUE. As the brand’s biggest maison in the world, the new location radiates a regal, luxurious presence on New York’s famed Madison Avenue shopping district. With the original window openings intact, the interior has plenty of natural light. Steel walls and silver chain curtains further intensify the brightness. Highlighting the elegant space are two grand staircases accented with glass balustrades, Travertino Noce handrails, and basaltina stone treads. A new elevator features a video screen and a custom-finished cab.
“It was particularly meaningful for our team to partner with Bottega Veneta on this milestone project following our work on their Rodeo Drive flagship,” says Greg Skalaski, VP of retail at Shawmut Design and Construction. “Transforming storied New York City homes into a landmark retail space was an exciting undertaking that demonstrates our team’s unwavering ability to deliver exactly what our clients want. It’s a thrill to see Bottega Veneta’s customers experience this historic space in new ways.”
Reflecting the urban surroundings, suede and wood accents showcase the brand’s full product range and exclusive “Icons of New York” capsule collection. Stations for customizing leather goods, handbags, and suitcases energize the in-store experience. A fifth floor “apartment” adds to the visually stunning, immersive environment. Custom finishes include column, ceiling, and fascia cladding; wood and stone flooring; brushed brass ceilings; and marmorino plaster walls.
