A RICH PALETTE OF DARK BRONZE METALS, BLEACHED OAK WOODS, AND HERRINGBONE-TILED FLOORS imbues this project with a feeling of handcraftsmanship and Old World charm.
Sitting in a densely-populated neighborhood that’s also one of the city’s crucial transit hubs, the store’s intentionally bespoke, upscale design appeals to the area’s upwardly-mobile professionals who appreciate premium selections and a unique shopping experience. Many residents live within walking distance.
An intimate and dramatic yet functional entry greets shoppers. To create an iconic street front presence, subtle references suggesting a glass of wine include a burgundy graduated applique on the glazing. An oversize gabion wall with backlit signage is above.
Placing display fixtures perpendicular to the traffic flow forms exceptional views from the exterior into the store and draws customers into the space. A linear checkout at the front improves security and enables transactions to be processed quickly. Concrete columns also accentuate the high ceilings. Drum-shaped lighting pendants throughout the space add a residential feel.
Other highlights include bold, high contrast signage and vivid wall graphics that provide an artisanal effect and clearly identify the brands. Perimeter shelving systems have unique call-outs to featured products in red frames.
A Vintages area, resembling a runway with open wine crates displaying premium products, further enhances the shopping experience. Reach-in coolers provide easy accessibility in the beer area.
Beer kegs with pulls, along with found recycled wine barrels and crates from local wineries, line the walls above the product shelves and create a sense of whimsy. Hand-drawn chalkboard graphics of the beer fermenting process adds a rustic and authentic aesthetic.
