AUTHENTIC MATERIALS AS A BACKDROP FOR THE FOOD create a comfortable, inviting environment that encourages shoppers to discover and enjoy the many offerings. A warm, neutral color scheme makes food the focal point. The design also expertly references the area and its residents — both past and present. Elements such as clean, contemporary finishes and light fixtures provide a link to the technologically savvy neighborhood. Using cedar wood pays homage to Sammamish’s logging history.
Tables and linear geometric forms, in wood and steel, allude to the city’s industrial roots. Other highlights include hot rolled steel for wall coverings and corner guard protection. Pops of color provide a vivid, friendly touch to wayfinding.
The project is located on the lowest tier of a development with a parking field in front of the store and additional retail tenants above. The unique, steeply sloped site included limited floor to ceiling clearance in the deli kitchen. All hoods and ducting were required to fit beneath a mezzanine floor that was 11 ft. above the finish floor. Ducting exited the building through predetermined block-outs and an exhaust shaft on the building’s east side.
