For more than 70 years, the in-store marketing industry has been recognizing top marketing and merchandising displays on the West Coast. On Monday, Oct. 1, Shop! Environments Association, the global trade association dedicated to enhancing retail environments and experiences, celebrated 12 winning displays at the West Coast POP Show held at the Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.
Best of Show was awarded to Bay Cities for its Boost Mobile Turn Table display, which becomes a real turn table through augmented reality. Additional vinyls can play training videos for store employees. Created as a gift for new stores, the display also included Boost swag inside the box to welcome new store managers.
The three additional “Best of” winners were:
• Best Visual Presentation: New Amsterdam Library Sign by Alluma Tech
• Best of Innovation: Altos Tequila – 100% Pure Agave Countertop Display by Affinity Creative Group
• Best Structural Design: Barefoot 2018 Metal Bus Display by Baer Enterprises
“After 70 years, this continues to be an important show for Shop! members and attendees alike,” says Eric Lawler, VP at Bish Creative Display and co-chair of the West Coast POP committee. “With such high quality entries year after year, it’s a great way to see innovative and creative displays from some of the top producers in our industry. I always leave inspired.”
Since 1947, the event has provided an opportunity for producers to showcase their latest and most innovative store displays and fixtures at a one-night-only creative gallery. Entries include POP and packaging solutions sold, produced, or marketed on the West Coast. The West Coast POP Show competition offers recognition through four “Best of” categories and Gold awards in multiple categories.
The annual event also includes a learning opportunity. This year, Aaron Sims, senior director of field sales & merchandising at Lindt & Sprungli – North America, shared POP examples for the Lindt product line and opened dialog with attendees.
“In addition to showcasing the great talent, creativity, and skill within our industry, this intimate event for the POP display industry provides an opportunity for members, brands, and retailers to network, learn, and have some fun,” says Todd Dittman, Shop! executive director. “This year’s attendees enjoyed the added bonus of sharing ideas with the speaker on ways to tackle specific display challenges.”
Thanks to the Shop! sponsors for helping make year’s event a success: Rapid Displays, Essentra, Menasha, Data Display and Bish Creative Display.
