Store resembles luxurious shoe closet
This inviting design turns the space into a luxurious shoe closet, where customers can find their footwear fantasies to be within easy reach. The stunning showcase marks the first physical store for Tamara Mellon, an eponymous direct-to-consumer, luxury footwear brand by the co-founder of Jimmy Choo. Shawmut Design and Construction worked directly with Mellon to deliver the enhanced shopping experience.

“We were honored to help bring the Tamara Mellon vision to life through its new retail concept,” says Greg Skalaski, VP of Shawmut West. “There has been a significant shift in brick-and-mortar strategy that will only continue to evolve, especially as more digitally-native brands, such as Tamara Mellon, open retail stores. Due to our extensive experience in building luxurious and logistically challenging projects, we were able to deliver an exciting retail concept that is more of a design installation than a store.”
The store features a custom millwork package installation to display the shoes, similar in style to Mellon’s own closet. Other high-end finishes include a custom storefront with aluminum canopy, as well as custom metal shelving and millwork throughout the interior. Luminous fabric ceiling panels also highlight the overall space.
Shawmut completed the project within a tight nine-week timeframe, ensuring an on-time opening.
