Tarkett is continuing its collaboration with a Swedish design studio during Milan Design Week, April 8–14, with the exhibition Formations.
Questioning notions of scale, color blocking, and Hawing hues, the installation in the iconic setting of the Circolo Filologico Milanese in Milan, Italy, is a celebration and homage of how design language can be twisted into new creative phrases.
Formations aims to inspire architects, designers, and specifiers alike by exploring the creative potential and limitless possibilities presented by Tarkett’s materials. In a contrast between modernity and tradition, the oversized shapes and flowing forms of Formations will dress the different spaces of the historic Circolo Filologico Milanese.
This exhibition is a continuation of the collaboration between Tarkett and Note Design Studio, initiated at last year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair. Following the success of the 2018 installation The Lookout, which received the Editors’ Choice Award for Best Stand, the companies return to Stockholm in February 2019 with the rooftop installation Snowtopped. For Milan Design Week in April, the collaboration goes a step further. The studio created Formations and also co-designed the new Tarkett collection that will be revealed as part of the exhibition.
“The Milan 2019 installation with Note at Circolo Filologico Milanese has been designed to give an inspiring experience to architects and designers and demonstrate the creative potential of Tarkett’s collections,” says Florian Bougault, art director, Tarkett EMEA. “A juxtaposition of modernity and tradition, Tarkett’s innovative new materials will explore the spacious volumes of this historically charged space. The result will be an aesthetically original experience for visitors that sheds new light on this iconic backdrop full of charm.”
