Store fixture manufacturer Amstore plans to cease operations by May, the Grand Rapids Business Journal reports.
The company will sell some of its assets, according to the report, and has made its 900,000-sq.-ft. Grand Rapids, Mich., U.S., production facility available for sale or lease.
A family business, Amstore has been providing custom store environments to retailers and brands since 1914, according to its website. Longtime President and CEO Richard F. Kaufman served as Shop! predecessor A.R.E.’s first-term president from 1956 to 1958 and was named to the Shop! Hall of Fame in 2015.
Despite the closure news, this may not be Amstore’s final goodbye: Company spokesperson Mary Ann Sabo tells the Grand Rapids Business Journal that there are plans in place to develop a new, smaller version of the company.
