Tostitos and Avocados From Mexico have partnered for a Cinco de Mayo campaign. The brands are unveiling thousands of Cinco Central popup displays at U.S. grocery stores. These one-stop shops are stocked with Tostitos chips and dips and Avocados From Mexico.
“Chips and guacamole are often the centerpiece of Cinco de Mayo festivities,” says Sheldon Boyea, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America.
With Cinco de Mayo taking place on a Sunday this year, the campaign is promoting Cinco de Mayo brunch. On the Friday before the holiday, roving carts, inspired by the custom-made fun of the tableside guac experience, will hit the streets of New York City with brunch-ified takes on typical Cinco de Mayo favorites including an original Tostitos recipe, SalsaGuac.
SalsaGuac and Avocado TOSTitos will be offered near Herald Square, Madison Square, Columbus Circle, and Washington Square Park from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Visitors will be encouraged to get their Cinco started early by having a bite and sharing their experience using #NoGuacNoCinco.
“As we expect to import more than 141 million pounds of fresh avocados leading into Cinco de Mayo, we’re seeing a 13% increase in volume compared to this time last year,” says Alvaro Luque, president of Avocados From Mexico.
