REPUBLIC OF II BY IV earned top honors at the 15th Annual Hospitality Design Awards, winning the Seating Category and the overall Best in Show for the Masque Collection. The overall Best in Show winner was selected from over 300 entries across 12 product categories. All finalists and winning products are recognized as setting the benchmark for the future of the industry.
The Hospitality Design (HD) Magazine Awards were presented during a gala dinner last week at Cipriani 25 Broadway, a historically significant New York City landmark located directly across from the iconic bull in the Cunard Building known for its Italian neo-renaissance style. Selected from over 1,000 entries, the 2019 winners were revealed throughout the evening, honoring some of the best new products and projects.
The recognition at the 15th Annual Hospitality Design Awards comes just a few months after the Masque Collection was launched at BDNY in New York, where REPUBLIC OF II BY IV was honored with the Best of BDNY Award in Furniture.
Judged by a talented and accomplished panel of industry professionals, the product jurors included Gray Shealy, AVP of architectural design and innovation, Royal Caribbean Cruises; Miriam Torres, co-founder, Parker-Torres Design; and Therese Virserius, founder, Virserius Studio.
Already making waves in the United States, REPUBLIC OF II BY IV is headquartered in Toronto, and will soon be expanding its presence beyond North American borders.
Toronto’s REPUBLIC OF II BY IV product studio designed the Masque Collection for Suite22Contract, specialists in sourcing fine Italian-made furniture. The Collection comprises four styles: a dining chair, barstool, and both high back and low back lounge chairs.
The Masque collection was noted for combining sophistication and comfort; classic materials and sculptural modern shapes; leading-edge CNC machining and the hand-caning tradition that predates the pyramids. The designers also combined simple lines with thoughtful details such as an integrated hand pull at the backrest rear and a convenient bag hook on the barstool.
