Marketing high-tech solutions for an age-old game like golf isn’t easy. Golfers frequently question the effectiveness of new features on clubs and often wonder how much of their performance on the course is derived from pure talent. So when TaylorMade introduced its revolutionary Twist Face technology to American and Canadian golfers, the brand needed to match its innovative efforts with an in-store display that delivers a bold, compelling message.
Designed by the Process Retail Group, the Twist Face freestanding unit helps customers easily understand how the new technology impacts the physics of golfball trajectory. The display pops in the aisle with signature TaylorMade red and blue colors, and it directly compares the innovation’s added yardage per swing against competitors’ clubs.
The Twist Face display’s curvy shape is made possible in part by the use of PETG, a flexible plastic. Engineers also developed a thin gauge metal helix that adds a multidimensional feel. Specialized tooling forms the required radius and bends, and vacuum-formed hair cell ABS limits potential scratches and blemishes. The unit was shipped fully assembled, improving the odds of proper placement in the store.
Across numerous interviews, store managers confirmed the unit adequately boosted customer interest and aids store navigation. As a result, Process Retail Group earned the opportunity to partner with TaylorMade for another product launch in 2019.
