Since its founding in the 1950s, King’s Hawaiian has increasingly gained a foothold across the US with its famed rolls. Looking to grow its presence within the baked goods category, the brand launched an initiative aimed at making its hotdog and hamburger buns a mainstay in the marketplace.
King’s Hawaiian separated itself from competitors by creating an in-store display that cross-promoted its sponsorship of Good Morning America‘s Summer Block Party Sweepstakes.
Playing off this theme, Shop! member Ideal incorporated the essentials of a summer party by designing picnic tables, palm trees, surfboards, and a barbecue grill across sturdy standalone kits. Eye-catching surfaces and floating balloons popped in King Hawaiian orange, making it easy to locate. Different combinations for the hutches, picnic table, and grill were created to cater to retailers’ differing spaces and requirements.
The combination of the partnership with Good Morning America and the festive display proved a success: King’s Hawaiian saw double-digit growth while doubling its market share within the category.
