Missouri State University student Jolean Hackney took first place in the 2020 PAVE Student Design Competition in collaboration with SketchUp. This annual competition by the Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) is geared toward college-level students involved in retail planning, visual merchandising, and branding programs.
The competition’s design challenge provides an excellent opportunity for students to obtain real-life retail design experience. Prizes included grants to the students and SketchUp Pro software licenses, and winning students may even see their designs come to life. The competition was open to undergraduate students and received entries from participants in 30 countries.
For the first time, judging took place virtually, Nov. 19–Dec. 8. Judging the 2020 competition were representatives from the SketchUp team as well as retail design professionals including past Student Design Competition winners, PAVE Rising Stars, and members of the PAVE Board.
“PAVE was fortunate this year through the sponsorship of SketchUp and Trimble to continue our Student Design Competition, and we are excited to announce the winners. We want to thank all the design students and colleges from around the world who participated, we appreciate all the hard work you put into your submissions. Congratulations to all of you!” said Cindi Kato, VP and global retail business development director at CallisonRTKL and PAVE president.
